The 13th AGAM of the WMO and the 13th AGM of WMO CF was hosted by the Far East Chapter in the resplendent city of Colombo, Sri Lanka from the 29th of August to the 1st of September at the Hotel Taj Samudra.It was a celebration of Memon brotherhood and a watershed event in the history of WMO as for the first time, 2 marquee events, the mega MPL (Memon Premier League) cricket tournament and the AGM were held simultaneously. The warm camaraderie, fellowship and affiliation of Memons around the globe towards this wonderful organization were strikingly evident by the colossal turn out at both the events.
There were large representations from Africa, Middle East, Pakistan, India, UK, USA and of course the host nation of Sri Lanka.
The most noteworthy development of the 13th AGM was the magnanimous contribution of a MILLION DOLLAR lilah donation by the generous Mr.M.H. Omar towards the Far East Chapter. An endorsement of his faith in the extensive humanitarian work done by the WMO.
26th August marked the arrival of most of the delegates from around the globe and signaled the start of a momentous AGAM which was the culmination of three months of rigorous planning and hard work by the Sri Lankan contingent. Notably Mr. Ashraf Sattar, Mr AC Saleem, Mr Shahid Sangani amongst many others.
